A subject I enjoy studying in this semester :∞♡*♥

Actually I don’t know which subject I like to study during this semester, because it’s my first year, but I would choose Estate and contemporary society, this subject is about the conception and configuration of modern Estate following a Foucauldian focus. I like this subject because is very interesting learn about power and how is exercised, also, I kinda like learning and reading about Michel Foucault’s works.

In classes we read different texts and participate in works where we apply the contents, for example, one of the work consisted in analyze Do the Evolution by Pearl Jam, relating to the Governmentality History; I remember another one, a work about analyzing a dystopian animation videos called Autodale and relating to Power Propositions.

The contents I’ve seen in this subject were Foucault’s notion about Estate, which is a way to apply the power; the latter is also an important concept, the power is applied to Education System, Jail and Hospital too. Another content I’ve seen is about Biopolitics, which is the control of people's lives through Biopower; right now I’m learning and reviewing about governmentality.

Autobiography

Hello people, I’m not good at choosing words, but I’ll try and put effort. My name is Carolina Castañeda Romero, my nickname is Caro or Carito, I born in Santiago back in 2000, although I born there, I lived all my life in a village in El Monte called El Paico, a rural zone. About studies stuff, I went to a local elementary school near of my home called Escuela Javiera Carrera de El Paico, I got a lot of good grades and even I played clarinet, but music wasn’t my thing. Choosing a high school was a hard decision because the lack of options and my family doesn’t have a lot of money, but luckily I got into Liceo Bicentenario de Talagante, where I discovered interesting stuff like social sciences and history. In 2018 I did the PSU test for 2019 admissions and I got good results, so I decided to study Law at Universidad de Chile but it wasn’t my thing and I made a hard decision, I left the studies. Thinking about my skills and possible vocations I decided to study Social Work in the same

My favorite piece of Technology。˚☽˚。⋆.

I don't had a lot of techonology stuff, but I can say that my favorite piece of technology is a notebook, an Acer Aspire notebook given by the government that I got it at middle school. Is a little bit old, but is still working. Well, because it was a very heavy notebook, I just use it in my home. I like to watch videos on YouTube, listen to music, look to prices of things that I would buy in online stores (because I like doing crafts but I’m out of materials), watch movies and organize my stuff. Also, I use my notebook every days because online classes and homework. I like it because I can do a lot of things and in pandemics times is something very necessary that helps me to study my career. I think that life would be harder if my notebook didn’t exist, although my notebook is kinda old is something that is needed nowadays.

*+:。.。Why did I choose this career?。.。:+*

When I was a child, I wanted to be an astronomer or a vet, but I noticed that I disliked natural sciences, so I started to get interested on humanist and social sciences stuff. At the moment to choose a career I wanted to study law, psychology or sociology. I did a lot of vocational tests and I thought that social work would be the best choice. About my experience at university, in 2019 I had a “normal” experience studying Law, get up early, eating food with that BAES card and thinking that studying Laws wasn’t the right decision. Now in 2020 I'm studying Social Work, my experience is weird, because of online classes.   I would like to work in NGOs or investigations about poverty, human development and  life quality.
